Tendon structure, Pathology & Imaging

Jill Cook is an Emeritus Professor in musculoskeletal health in the La Trobe Sport and Exercise Medicine Research Centre at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. Jill’s research areas include sports medicine and tendon injury. After completing her PhD in 2000, she has investigated tendon pathology, treatment options and risk factors for tendon injury. Jill currently supplements her research by conducting a specialist tendon practice and by lecturing and presenting workshops both in Australia and overseas.

 

 

Understanding tendon loads for diagnosis, in-season management and rehabilitation

Dr Ebonie Rio is a Sports Physiotherapist who has worked at the Victorian Institute of Sport since 2010. She consults at The Australian Ballet, multiple AFL, Rugby, elite Soccer and Basketball clubs. Ebonie is also the Senior Research Fellow at The Australian Ballet, a joint position with La Trobe Sport and Exercise Medicine Research Centre. Additionally, Ebonie sits on the Scientific Advisory Committee for Little Big Steps, a children’s charity that aims to increase physical activity in children undergoing cancer treatment to improve quality of life. She also co-chairs both the Sports Medicine Australia conference and the International Scientific Tendon Symposium.

 

 

 

Gluteal tendinopathy and menopause

Dr Rachael McMillan is a physiotherapist and tendon researcher.  Rachael is a Lecturer at Deakin University and practices clinically in both public Emergency Department and private clinical settings. Rachael is also a physiotherapist with Football Australia (Australian Women’s National Football Teams) and has worked extensively with elite level football.  She has a special interest in dance injury management.
